Sri Lanka is an island in South Asia having a vast wind potential and focused on the development of the Renewable Energy sector. Suzlon has been actively involved in Sri Lanka since the year 2010, having successfully installed its Wind Turbines Generators (WTGs) for the Mampuri-I Wind Farm (10 MW), the First Commercial Wind Project in Sri Lanka. The project comprises of Suzlon S64-1250kW WTGs and developed by M/s. Senok Group, Colombo - a diversified business house in Sri Lanka.
For the subsequent expansions, Mampuri -II Wind Farm (10.5 MW) & Mampuri –III Wind Farm (10.5 MW) Suzlon S88 -2100 kW WTGs were installed taking Suzlon’s cumulative installed capacity to 31 MW. The wind farms are being maintained by Suzlon since commissioning.
All the three projects are located in Puttalam in the Northern Province and are consistently operating at high-efficiency levels since commissioning.
