Suzlon appoints Mr. Sumant Sinha as Chief Operating Officer
Pune: Taking forward the companys drive to strengthen and broaden management
bandwidth, Suzlon Energy Limited - the worlds fifth largest wind turbine maker with
10.5% of global market share, has appointed Mr. Sumant Sinha as its Chief Operating
Officer with effect from 1st August 2008.
Mr. Sinha brings with him invaluable experience and knowledge from years spent in
leadership roles in multinational corporations. Most recently, he set up and had been
the CEO of Aditya Birla Retail, and prior to that held the position of Group CFO for the
Aditya Birla Group. Prior to joining the Aditya Birla Group, Sumant has over ten years
of experience in international finance which includes an exciting career with Citicorp
Securities in New York and London, and ING Barings in New York.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Toine van Megen, CEO of Suzlon, said: We are
very pleased to welcome Sumant on board. His experience in global leadership roles
will further help strengthen Suzlons management team and the companys
competitive position.
