Chennai, India: Suzlon Energy Ltd. (BSE & NSE: SUZLON) Indias largest renewable energy solutions provider won the Quality Improvement Project (QIP) competition on Cost Optimization at the 5th Annual Summit of Aditya Birla Groups Regional Competition on Reinventing the Future organised by Manufacturing Today in Chennai.
The competition involved presentation of case studies of projects undertaken by various companies, which were evaluated in categories that included Cost Optimization, Quality, Technology, Safety, Sustainability and People Initiatives. The competition saw participation from 26 leading manufacturing companies and Suzlons case study on Elimination of Copper wastage in Lopping Machine and reducing the chances of injury to the operator emerged as the winner with its focus on cost optimization and safety.
Suzlons Generator Unit is located in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Karumathampatty, Coimbatore and has a manufacturing capacity of 3,000 MW per annum. The state of the art facility, manufactures generators with rated capacity of 2.1 and 2.17 MW which are one of the major components of Wind Turbines.
