Chennai, India: Suzlon Energy Ltd. (BSE & NSE: SUZLON), India's largest renewable energy solutions provider won the Kaizen Competition organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Southern Region recently. The 13th Edition of the Kaizen Competition saw Suzlon's Coimbatore Generator Unit overcoming a tough competition that had 100 companies being part of this prestigious event. Suzlon received the award for the successful implementation of Kaizen in order to achieve a uniform profile of copper bar with an increased productivity thereby achieving the best quality level. This win adds to the recent list of accolades won by Suzlon including the award won at the Manufacturing Today Summit. The recognition is a testament to Suzlon's sustained focus on stringent quality control in its manufacturing processes reflected in its superior products.
Indian industry is implementing Kaizens in order to help the industry become more competitive in the global scenario. The Kaizen Competition of CII Southern Region is an annual competition that recognizes and showcases the best Kaizens implemented in manufacturing and services across sectors. Kaizen which stands for 'improvement' in Japanese is a set of practices with continuous improvement at the core of its philosophy. Kaizen is applicable in all business processes including manufacturing and engineering with emphasis on improving productivity on an ongoing basis.

Suzlon's Generator Unit is located in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Karumathampatty, Coimbatore and has a manufacturing capacity of 3,000 MW per annum. The state of the art facility manufactures generators with a rated capacity of 2.1 and 2.17 MW which are one of the major components of Wind Turbines.
